Training
Our training philosophy is that a horse can only, ever, be a horse. We use the most natural but firm ways when training. Horses are allowed to make mistakes and learn. No spurs, whips, other artificial aids, rope ties, action devices, or chains are ever used in our training. We start all our horses in rope halters, bosals, rope hack or snaffle (if the horse will be bitted by owner). We focus on being firm in our boundaries but not harsh in our correction. Horses are exposed to as much as possible and our training programing is geared toward the "pleasure" horse. Driving horses are started in snaffles or soft rubber bits. Horses are driven in traffic, trails, cones, and ring. Horses sized 10-16 hands are able to be put to the cart here. We only train Fjords for show.
Colt Starting:
Stall included in all training board. Horses and ponies may be trained in either riding or driving. Colt starting and tune ups for all breeds. Registered Fjords receive a discount. Humane training free of spurs and cheats. All started in snaffle or hack (bosal or rope hack). Horses are trail ridden [trailered], worked 7 days a week for 1 hour or more, exposed to cattle, ridden in ring and in traffic. Driving ponies and horses will be trained in the ring, traffic, road, trail, and through cones. Driven in snaffle or soft rubber bit.
